It's About Thyme...and so much more!
by Donna Friedenreich
When I moved to Austin in the fall of 2000, I couldn't wait to discover local nurseries to satisfy my gardening obsessions—antique roses and herbs. One of my friends told me to head to this nursery in Southeast Austin. As soon as I pulled into the parking lot at It's About Thyme, I knew I was going to be hooked! A row of greenhouses filled with pots of herbs, a large section of antique roses ready for fall planting, annuals, perennials everywhere. Of course, I left there with my trunk loaded—a variety of thymes, Mrs. Dudley Cross (aka a fabulous antique rose) and so much more.

This South Austin nursery is a treasure – a thriving business for over 28 years. Chris Winslow and his wife, Diane, have turned the charming, old home on the property into a gift shop, classroom space for garden lectures, and offices for their friendly, loyal, garden-smart staff that stand ready to answer your plant questions. Promise you—pay It's About Thyme a visit and you will leave with a smile on your face—and some healthy plants for your garden!
