Austin Bonsai Society January Meeting

January 21 @ 6:30 pm 9:00 pm

Yamadori techniques and care

Yamadori are trees collected from the wild and made into bonsai. They are typically more mature and naturally weathered due to the elements, making them desirable for bonsai. Come join our first meeting of 2026 to learn about the different tools and techniques used to collect yamadori. The session will include care of the tools and care of yamadori after collection.

Speaker Bio: Austin Bonsai Society’s own Joey McCoy has over 20 years of experience in bonsai and has held numerous leadership positions within ABS. Joey also leads the coordination of the club’s annual bonsai show. He regularly posts his styled bonsai trees on Instagram, @joeybonsai.
