Austin Herb Society March Meeting

March 3 @ 9:30 am 12:00 pm

Our Presenters Molly Ogorzaly, AHS president; Sheila Larkin, Programs VP; and Barbara Kaul will teach enough kitchen chemistry to demonstrate how to dye eggs, corn husks, silk & cotton using natural products sourced from our gardens & grocery shelves. Meeting “early birds” will be able to make and take their own colored dyed eggs. Attendees can also bring a container, pint size, if you would like to bring some dye home! Container can be plastic or glass, but should have a cover and be leak proof.

Speaker Bio: These three friends met almost 50 years ago in mycology class at UT. Their shared interest in botany & crafting led them to found the Petal Posse, a group always ready to get in the weeds exploring fun ways to play with plants.

Molly has been dyeing with plants for over 50 years. She presented as part of the Bicentennial Celebration in Philadelphia while working at the Morris Arboretum & Gardens of the University of Pennsylvania. Also, Molly has lectured on plant dyes at UT. Barbara & Sheila have combined their botanical backgrounds with a lifetime of fabric crafting.

Garden club members and attendees for this meeting are welcomed to the Garden for free as part of the AAGC garden club activities.

Free Open to the public, free to attend
