Community Volunteer Workday!

August 12 @ 9:00 am 11:00 am

Come get your hands dirty and help care for one of Austin’s most treasured green spaces! Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or have never picked up a trowel before, everyone is welcome at our Community Volunteer Workdays.

Volunteers play an essential role in keeping Zilker Botanical Garden thriving. You’ll help care for the Garden through projects such as weeding, mulching, pruning, planting, and other seasonal horticultural tasks. Every workday is a little different, and every volunteer makes a meaningful impact.

Volunteering at the Garden is also a wonderful way to meet new people, spend time outdoors, learn about gardening and native plants, and give back to the Austin community all while enjoying the beauty of the Garden!

  • Closed-toe shoes are required.
  • Please wear clothing appropriate for gardening. Long sleeves and pants are recommended.
  • Bring a full water bottle, hat, sunscreen, and bug spray to stay comfortable while working outdoors.
  • We’ll provide all gloves and tools needed for the workday.

The Garden gates open at 8:00 AM. Upon arrival, please show your GivePulse confirmation email to the gate staff to receive complimentary admission for the day. If you are unable to access your confirmation email, a printed copy or completion of a paper waiver at the gate is also accepted.

After checking in, please park in the Volunteer Parking Lot, located down the unpaved road adjacent to the main parking lot and marked by orange cones. We’ll gather at the Flag Pole in front of the Garden Center at 9:00 AM before heading to our project site together.
