Día de los Muertos Observance & Genealogy Seminar
November 18 @ 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Join us for a special collaboration between the George Washington Carver Genealogy Center, the Tejano Genealogy Society of Austin, and the Zilker Botanical Garden Conservancy as we celebrate and explore the cultural traditions of Día de los Muertos.
In this unique seminar, members of the Tejano Genealogy Society of Austin will share the history behind this vibrant celebration—how it began, why we honor it, and how the ofrenda serves as a beautiful way to remember and celebrate our loved ones.
During the second part of the event, participants will have the opportunity to explore their own family histories. Laptops will be available onsite, and staff from the George Washington Carver Genealogy Center will be present to provide research guidance and helpful tips.

This event offers a meaningful way to connect with both cultural heritage and personal ancestry—learning about the traditions of Día de los Muertos while discovering the legacies of those who came before us.
