29th Texas Bamboo Festival
October 22, 2023 @ 10:00 am – 3:30 pm
Join us for the 29th Annual Texas Bamboo Festival! In addition to bamboo plants, crafts, and magazines for sale and a silent auction of bamboo paraphernalia, there will be an Ikebana workshop led by Amira Matsuda and a talk by James Wolf about “Innovations In Bamboo”. Learn about growing different species, maintenance, grooming, and explore bamboo crafting with Michael Schaefer, Carole Meckes, James Wolf, and Eric Buck. See Sung Cha Brooks’ beautiful paintings, and Mark Miller’s bamboo flutes, and don’t forget that Bill will be on hand to sharpen your tools. Come and share your love and passion for bamboo at the 29th Texas Bamboo Festival!
About the Presenters
Over the last 30 years, James Wolf, also known as The Bamboo Master, has established manufacturing capabilities, brands, and product lines in bamboo such as pre-fabricated bamboo architecture, championship-winning race bikes, award-winning children’s toys, retail displays, skateboards, and groundbreaking achievements in bamboo architecture.
Amira Matsuda started her Ikebana study in 1995 and got her first teaching Diploma in 1999. In February 2022 she was promoted to RIJI, the highest rank the Sogetsu Foundation offers and the first ever given in Texas. Amira will be offering two workshops, a Beginners on Saturday and an Advanced class on Sunday.
