Ikebana Using New Zealand Flax Leaves

September 2, 2022 @ 10:00 am 12:00 pm

Included with admission, free for Conservancy members

After a quiet, albeit HOT summer, we are excited to announce that Gregory Gaiser will provide our kick-off demonstration for the 2022-2023 season. It will begin at 10:00 am sharp on Friday, September 2, so arrive about 9:30-9:45 am to collect your flowers, chat with others, and claim your seats. Gregory will be teaching via Zoom from Colorado and we will gather in-person at Zilker with real flowers. RSVP before August 22, 2022 if you plan to attend in person at Zilker Botanical Garden, so that materials can be ordered accordingly.

Gregory plans to use New Zealand flax leaves (Phormium) as the main theme. Each attendee will get 5-7 variegated flax leaves and a couple of flowers. Students can supply additional branches or other line material if they choose, but the flax leaves could also serve as the line material. Gregory may also have some surprises up his sleeve; perhaps letting us glimpse at arrangements from a recent workshop. Club members will have the cost of flowers deducted from their flower accounts. The charge for flowers for non-members is $20.
