March 24, 2022 @ 9:30 am – 12:00 pm

“Kenzans” program: If you’ve ever tried arranging flowers, you know that one of the challenges is getting the flowers to stay where you want them. That’s especially true in flower shows…and especially important! After a quick review of other techniques for “sticking” flowers where you want them, Flower Show Judge Sue will lead us through a basic review of kenzans, those heavy pin holders that are a mainstay of Ikebana, the art of Japanese flower arranging. Sue will review the pros and cons of kenzans, share a few tips on using them, discuss how to clean and maintain them, and suggest some sources for buying them. The meeting includes some social time starting at 9:30 AM, a program around 10 AM, and a club business meeting after the program. (Virtual program with possible in-person at Zilker Garden to be announced.)
This event will be in person, and on zoom.
