May-king Meaning in the Garden

May 3 @ 11:00 am 12:30 pm

Included with admission, free for Conservancy members

Talks and Walks in the Garden (TWiG) is a workshop presented by AAGC’s Garden Clubs and offers learning opportunities as you walk through Zilker Botanical Gardens. This TWiG has activities for adults and children of all ages as they find meaning in their visit to the Garden, May 3. Kate Alsobrook and Susan Norwood from the Austin Herb Society will lead the always popular activity where visitors get to make their own “tussie mussie,” a small bouquet used to convey messages through the language of flowers. You’ll learn what each flower signifies as you make your own tussie mussie to take home.

Author Karmon Hill from Austin Butterfly Forum will read from her new book, “Whisper of the Wings: 12 Lessons Revealed by the Butterfly Life Circle.” This small interactive session is for visitors who are interested in “May-king Meaning” by connecting nature’s rhythms with personal experiences and biblical wisdom. Both activities are in the Zilker Herb Garden. First reading of “Whisper of the Wings” is 11:15, so arrive by 11:00 and bring a blanket or camp chair. Second reading at 11:45. “Tussie mussie” making occurs 11 am to 12:15 pm, so drop by anytime and learn the language of flowers.
