Mushroom Gardening and Composting-CANCELED

Included with admission, free for Conservancy members

Learn how to grow mushrooms, build healthy soil, and feed the soil, your plants, and you with nutritious vitamin D-filled mushrooms! You will also be helping divert organic matter from the waste stream! Mother Earth will love you.

Cost: This workshop is included with admission to the Garden and is free for Conservancy members. Donations accepted by Austin Organic Gardeners for program-specific supplies.

What to Bring: Folding chair or blanket, cordless power drill (if you have one), and your own bucket.

Suggested 5 gallon containers: planter pot, bucket, laundry basket, milk crate, crate for vegetables, wire mesh container like a birdhouse, strawberry pot. Don’t buy anything new. Let’s recycle! Any container with holes in it will work including a cardboard box.

This will take place in the Oak Grove.

About the Presenter

Angel Schatz radiates passion for understanding the ecosystem of central Texas and making mycology education accessible to anyone who shares an interest. She is also a member of leadership team of Austin Organic Gardeners; harmonizing vegetable gardening and mushroom growing, particularly by using recycled mushroom blocks. Formally an experience designer and animator in the tech world, she hopes to inspire more people dial into the wood-wide-web.
