Zilker Botanical Garden is proud to announce the arrival of a “Moon Tree,” a loblolly pine seedling that, when it was a mere seed, flew around the Moon on NASA’s Artemis I mission in 2022. This special tree is part of NASA’s Moon Trees Artemis program, in partnership with the USDA Forest Service, symbolizing a unique connection between space exploration and nature.

The Conservancy’s curator, Jeff Pavlat will care for the tree inside the Garden’s greenhouse until a permanent location is determined.
