Edible Trees: From Fruit to Nuts & Beyond

October 8 @ 9:30 am 11:30 am

Open to the public, free to attend

Join us for the Austin Herb Society’s monthly meeting discussing edible trees! Certified Arborist Scott George, owner of Austin Beautiful Trees, will offer tips on how to successfully grow “edible” and other trees in your Central Texas landscape. Edible trees are prized for their fruit— from peaches and citrus to figs and olives—as well as nuts like the beloved Texas pecan (technically a seed, like nutmeg). Edible trees can also provide leaves for culinary use (think bay laurel and moringa), berries like allspice and elderberry, and even flowers such as the dried clove bud.
