Herbs for Pollinators, presented by Judith Craft with the Austin Herb Society
November 1 @ 9:30 am – 11:30 am
Monthly Austin Herb Society Meeting
Nothing makes a garden more alive than herbs that attract pollinators and they also have culinary, medicinal, and decorative uses. Herbs that attract pollinators dramatically increase the number and varieties of butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and other pollinators in your garden. Walk in an herb garden, take long deep breaths of the aromas, and smile. You may even receive a “butterfly kiss.” This session is taught by Judith Craft, a longtime member of the Austin Herb Society who has created the Zilker Herb Garden to be a pollinator mecca. Join us at 9:30 for hospitality, then plan to take a stroll to the Herb Garden after the presentation and be truly inspired!
Judith Craft is an active member of the Austin Herb Society who chooses to use her volunteer time maintaining the herb garden in Zilker Botanical Garden. She was very much involved with the design, layout, and installation of the Native Texas Herb Garden in 2005. She was the force behind the relocation of the Herb Garden to the staircase in the Rose Garden in 2017, expanding the collection with her designs in Spring and Fall for landscaping with herbs in Austin. When not wearing a gardening hat, Judith will often be in a docent’s apron leading tours through Zilker Botanical Garden. She is a Travis County Master Gardener, was a member of the Horticulture Committee, and held a board position within the Austin Area Garden Council. She has also served on the boards of the Austin Herb Society and Zilker Botanical Garden Conservancy for a number of years.
This event will take place in the Garden Center Auditorium. If you would like to join virtually, email firstname.lastname@example.org
