Insects and Pest Management

Wizzie Brown has a B.S. and M.S. Degree in Entomology and is a specialist in Integrated Pest Management with the Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Program.  She will discuss how insects are an important part of our urban landscape and will explain how they eat plants, prey on other insects, help pollinate flowers, decompose plant matter, and even help spread seeds.  What would a garden be without buzzing bees, fluttering butterflies, and rainbows of caterpillars, dragonflies, and beetles?  Ms. Brown’s research focuses on imported fire ants, including community-wide fire ant management.
