Summer Speaker Series: “Plant Conservation in Texas” Presented by Dr. Norma Fowler

July 17, 2022 @ 11:00 am 12:00 pm

Included with admission, free for members

Norma Fowler is a professor in the Department of Integrative Biology at the University of Texas at Austin. She and her students have been studying plant population ecology, plant community ecology, and plant conservation in Texas for 43 years.

She will share some of their findings about the bracted twistflower, a rare central Texas wildflower and about using fire to restore and preserve native central Texas woodlands and savannas, and also talk briefly about how their studies of endangered plant species along the Texas/Mexico border highlight the potential ecological damage from ‘the wall’.
