Sunken Garden Rising with Harvé Franks
July 10 @ 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Join the Austin Organic Gardeners as we welcome Harvé Franks, the Horticultural Specialist at The Carver Museum in East Austin. She will share her story of growing up at her grandparents’ farm in the historic St. John Freedmen’s Colony and their farm-to-table cafe on Airport Boulevard called Ruby’s Kitchen. She is the first black master gardener in Travis County and after years of working in the arts, she now has her dream job at Carver Museum. During the pandemic, her team turned the decommissioned pool at Carver Museum into what she calls the Sunken Garden. Jump in and rise with us and be inspired!
Doors at 6, talk starts at 7! Don’t forget to bring seeds and plants to swap afterward. If you can’t make it in person we will also be streaming the event via YouTube and Zoom.
