ZBG Celebrates Its Volunteers

On January 27th, Zilker Botanical Garden held its second annual volunteer appreciation event. This potluck-style celebration brought together volunteers and staff who share a love for the Garden and offer their talents by way of gardening, providing educational tours and so much more.

Awards were given to some outstanding volunteers who continued to show their dedication throughout 2023. And of course, there was cake too!

Docent Volunteer Award: Cody Torres – He volunteered 156 hours at ZBG as a docent leading field trip groups, tours, and supporting with special events.

Special Events Volunteer Award: Mary Lou Bell – She volunteered 18.5 hours at ZBG at special events including the Dino Days, Roots & Wings Festival Celebration, and Woodland Faerie Trail events. Mary Lou Bell is a member of the Tejas Garden Stars.

Horticulture Volunteer Award: Bonnie Orr – She volunteered 197 hours at ZBG leading volunteer groups to maintain the Herb Garden. Bonnie is a member of the Herb Society.
